Jaskirat Singh Sandhu passes QUaliFYING EXAM

Congratulations to Jaskirat Singh Sandhu for passing his PhD Qualifying Exam yesterday! 🥳  Jaskirat is a PhD candidate in the Pai Lab and Department of Medical Biophysics at the University of Toronto.

Jaskirat's project involves finding novel epigenetic modulators and biomarkers of treatment-resistant glioblastoma. Glioblastoma is an aggressive brain cancer on which the needle of clinical treatment has not moved for 20 years. Jaskirat has been awarded a prestigious Mitacs Accelerate Fellowship to perform a pharmacological screen in patient-derived cell lines, a collaboration with the OICR Drug Discovery team and neuro-oncologist Dr. Sheila Singh at McMaster University. His PhD will also involve identifying novel DNA methylation-based biomarkers of treatment response in a collaboration with neuro-oncologist Dr. Sunit Das (UHN).
